Review

I’m a dad of two 8 year olds.. and these two are growing fast, growing into their own styles while learning about the world we live in.

One of the things I love to do with my girls is get our craft skills going… the other thing I love is bargain hunting in the charity shops.. (Okay mainly for books ha ha). My girls love the charity shops, finding a bargain and knowing you are helping charity at the same time, they also love to give to the charity shops as they are blessed enough to have more toys/clothes/games than any one really needs. Mix these two loves together and add in a bit of knowledge and we are on to a winner… That’s where The Fashion Fix comes in.

The book offers up some ideas on how you can refresh your wardrobe rather than buying new, to create something this is unique and just for you while at the same time learning about the industry and why we need to do more.

Going through the ideas the girls really loved the idea of making their own charm bracelets, it’s something they are keen on anyway but we never thought of seeing what bits and pieces we could pick up from the charity shop to use to help make a special bracelet, always opting for the little kids kits..well no more… we’ve already got a shopping spree planned to find some bits to make their new bracelets 😊

After just having their ears pierced recently too the girls loved the idea of making pom-pom earrings, and even more so making pom-poms themselves ha ha

The girls are also looking forward to making their own keychains!

There’s sooo much to do, lots of easy bits to get the creative juices flowing. If only you could have seen Georgia’s eyes light up when I suggested updating so clothes with new buttons! She ran and grabbed the box of buttons and started hunting out ones she likes.

Georgia rushed to get the buttons out!

As you can tell, lots for the kids to get involved in but at the same time it’s educational, you learn which materials are man made or natural, you learn what can be done with plastic and why its important to recycle when we do use plastic and it even reminded the girls of the time they bought some cuddly toys made from recycled plastic and it just keeps the message going that single use items are bad for the environment and there’s lots of possibilities.

I also loved the other activities, there’s a wordsearch, things to draw, things to find in your house, all simple things to do, but all helping develop your child’s knowledge on the subject of fashion.

I’m a big believer in individuality and The Fashion Fix definitely shows you how cool it can be to be unique and gives the knowledge to set them off on a little journey which is bound to be fun.

I’ll update the blog once we’ve a few items to share 😊

5/5 Stars

My thanks go to the author and Rachel’s Random Resources for having me on the blog tour! I received an ARC of the book as part of the tour to enable the girls to give the book the David’s Book Blurg treatment and they won’t want to get rid of this one anytime soon that’s for sure!
